Artist Bio

Swathi is a portrait painter based in Melbourne. Working in oil paint, Swathi follows traditional techniques but uses them to depict people in a contemporary style. She is driven by a passion to increase representation on people of colour, painted by people of colour.

​

 

In recent years, her deep rooted passion has resulted in awards such as the Norma Bull Portrait Prize and portrait commissions.

 

Swathi has also taught drawing at RMIT and currently teaches painting at various institutions including the Victorian Artists Society in East Melbourne

After hearing about the profound impact Possum Portraits has had on parents, I was deeply moved by the power of art in people's lives. It is my hope that the angel baby drawings I create can offer support to parents on their grieving process.
