Service Description
Every day in Australia, 6 babies are stillborn and 2 babies pass away as a result of neonatal complications. This is the daily reality in which midwifery and nursing practice takes place today, making midwives and nurses the “front line” in caregiving for bereaved parents facing pregnancy loss and infant death. Despite the relative frequency with which these caregivers may encounter perinatal death in the course of their work, many commonly acknowledge a lack of both confidence and training to support the emotional and mental health needs of bereaved parents. This course will prepare participants in the area of perinatal loss photography, ensuring that fewer parents suffer protracted grief and negative psychological sequilae as a result of inadequate visual keepsakes. This course is a CPD endorsed activity by the Australian College of Midwives, allowing participants to gain 6 CDP credits for its completion. A certificate of participation will be provided. This online interactive webinar will be delivered in two parts across two days. Each session is 3 hours long. Please make sure you have the following items at your disposal for the workshop: - a digital camera - a USB card reader that fits your camera's memory card, so you can transfer photos onto your PC - a selection of blankets or swaddles - a doll (which will stand in as a dummy for a real-life baby) - writing implements and a notepad
